Controlling the blood pressure level and bringing it back to normal is what every hypertension patient looks forward to. Once the doctors have worked with you to identify the reason behind the high blood pressure levels, it’s time to look at the treatment further. Initially, lifestyle changes are suggested to see if there is any improvement in the condition. But if the condition is not good, doctors generally prescribe you hypertension medicines. It won’t cost a hole in your pocket as you can easily buy cheap hypertension drug online.

Before you do that, let’s first check out the different medication treatments for hypertension and which drugs are the best for you in the long run?

Diuretics – Usually known as water pills, these drugs work by flushing out the extra water and salt in urine. When there's less fluid flowing in veins and arteries, it will reduce blood vessel's pressure. Some of the side effects include dizziness, feeling thirsty, rashes, and frequent toilet visits. Your reports might also display low potassium and low sodium after regular intake of diuretics.

ACE Inhibitors – Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors reduce the blood pressure level by relaxing the blood vessels. How does that happen? The drug prevents the formation of angiotensin, a chemical that is responsible for narrowing down the vessels. Some of the common ACE inhibitors are Ramipril, enalapril, perindopril, and lisinopril. Side effects include constant dry cough, dizziness, and headaches.

Calcium Channel Blockers – The calcium channel blockers reduce blood pressure by simply widening the blood vessels. The drug prevents calcium from entering your cells of arteries and heart, allowing them to relax. The most common calcium channel blockers are amlodipine, nifedipine, and felodipine. Patients might experience slight headaches, constipation, and swollen ankles.

Beta-Blockers – These drugs block the effects of the hormone epinephrine (adrenaline). This results in a slow heart rate with less force. As it causes the heart to slow down, the side effects can be severe, like weakness, dizziness, fatigue, and fainting. Some other respiratory side effects include chest pain and difficulty in breathing. So, beta-blockers are generally prescribed if the blood pressure is way too high.

Renin Inhibitors – Renin is an enzyme produced by your kidneys, which causes some processes to raise blood pressure. Aliskiren (Tekturna), a novel direct renin inhibitor, slows down the enzyme's production, eventually lowering blood pressure. One should not take renin inhibitors with ACE inhibitors or ARBs, as it increases the risk of a stroke.

Generally, in most cases, the combination of lifestyle change and medication can help patients control blood pressure levels. However, reaching a specific hypertension drug and right dosage might take time as doctors will prescribe different medicines to see what best suits your body. Always keep a check on your blood pressure levels at home and maintain a log to tell your doctor about the readings when you visit them. Once the right medication is prescribed, you can buy high blood pressure medication online in Canada at a reasonable process.
