  • Directions to use

Ceftriaxone is given into the muscle or into the vein through an IV.

You may need to mix this injection with a diluent first. If you are using the injection at home, make sure you are well-versed with the procedure.

Don’t mix monocef in the same injection with other antibiotics or with a diluent that contains calcium including a TPN.

After mixing, you will need to use it within a certain number of hours or days.

Skipping doses can make your condition a bit worse.

Store at room temperature away from moisture, heat and light.
If your medicine was provided in a frozen form or was frozen after mixing, thaw it in a refrigerator or at room temperature. Do not warm in a microwave or boiling water. Use the medicine as soon as possible after thawing it. Do not refreeze.

Use a disposable needle and syringe only once. Follow any state or local laws about throwing away used needles and syringes. Use a puncture-proof "sharps" disposal container (ask your pharmacist where to get one and how to throw it away). Keep this container out of the reach of children and pets.
