  • Description

Colchicine is used to treat gout attacks (flares) in adults by decreasing swelling and lessening the build-up of uric acid crystals that cause pain in the affected joints.

However, this medication is not a cure for gouty arthritis or Behcet's syndrome and it does not prevent these diseases from progressing.

Note: Colchicine should not be used as a routine pain medication for other conditions.
